Society of Nepalese Architects – SONA

Information dating from May 2020
In addition to creating a SONA Lockdown PORTFOLIO , SONA is working hard to
  • keep up the spirits of its members;
  • help the government sector to design an emergency isolation center;
  • adapt and disinfect older facilities, including a fully equipped hospital for permanent use later on as well;
  • conduct webinars on post-lockdown working and living environments.

Vietnamese architect Trinh Phuong Quan published “The most rushed project – Confessions of an architect who designed a field hospital against Covid-19 in Singapore”, an account of his work on a Community isolation center and worker housing during the Covid-19 epidemic in Tampines and Bulim, Singapore – 15 June 2021

On May 4, 2021, the leaders of the Vietnam Association of Architects held an unscheduled meeting led by Chairman Dr. Architect Phan Dang Son to discuss a number of urgent issues related to future activities of the Association and ensuring the prevention and control of Covid-19 – 5 May 2021

Topics discussed:

  • postponing the Workshop, “Towards half a century of revolutionary architecture of Vietnam to unify the country (1975 – 2025)”, scheduled to take place on June 4, 2021 in Buon Ma Thuot city, Dak Lak province, until the end of June 2021, expected 18 to 25 June 2021.
  • the National Festival of Young Architects in Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province, expected to be held from August 20 to 22, 2021.
  • the extension of the architect’s practicing certificate and the organization of examinations to issue practice certificates, pending a written response from the Ministry of Construction. The Association will be responsible for notifying the architects.

The Vietnam Association of Architects (VAA) organised an ideas competition for the design of makeshift hospitals. The competition aimed to promote architects’ creative ideas in the design of makeshift hospitals, able to cope with the complex evolutions of infectious diseases.

Colegio de Arquitectos del Ecuador

The College of Architects of Ecuador, Provincial of Pichincha (CAE-P), participated in the second Panamerican Biennial of Architecture of Quito (BAQ) , completely adapted to the digital environment due to the international situation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. From 9-20 November 2020, the biennial event connected more than 1500 people from all over the world, making Ecuador a benchmark not only for initiatives related to architecture, but also technology.
